By engaging in Sora Shodo and conversing with it, you are possibly letting go of the darkness and unnecessary elements within your soul. Through this session, you become aware of our inherent talents and true essence, allowing us to harness positive energy.
What is it? : SORA will talk with you, get inspiration from you, and create Personalized Sho Art for you and your loved one. By personalizing Shodo art, SORA can create unique designs, compositions, or messages using specific kanji characters that hold personal meaning or significance to the individual.
It combines the beauty and elegance of traditional calligraphy with individual expression and creativity. SORA personalized Shodo art can be displayed as your “Omamori,” used for decorative purposes, or even given as a meaningful and special gift.
SORA’s Shodo Class
Shodo (calligraphy) is a form of Japanese artistic writing that requires a focused mind to unite body and heart and thereby express one’s true character through brush and ink.
In Japan, Shodo practice focuses on copying old masters and often lacks true creativity or expression. In the U.S., artistic pursuits often lack the depth of study, meditative aspects, and polish of traditional Japanese arts. It was only through the connection of both cultures that SORA art and teaching became possible. Her philosophy is a fusion of two cultures.
This class also examines the aesthetic values, historic development, and intellectual metaphors that Shodo embodies to further students’ understanding of art, people, and worldview. This course is designed for students who are interested in Shodo and personal growth through Shodo practice. Both Adult and Children’s classes are available. Classes will be taught in Japanese and English.
